Patient stories

In their own words

I put off replacing my missing tooth for years out of fear. Dr Patel explained every step, the procedure was completely painless, and my new tooth is indistinguishable from the rest.

I'd put off replacing a back molar for a while, mainly worried about surprise costs. Dr Patel gave me one number at the first visit and it didn't change. Good to be able to eat properly on that side again.

TThomas R.Single Tooth Implant★★★★★

My implant replaced a front tooth I chipped in a fall. I was worried the colour wouldn't match, but Dr Patel got the shade spot on, you honestly can't tell it's not my own tooth.

FFiona L.Single Tooth Implant★★★★★

Pretty straightforward process, the scan, then the implant, then the crown a few months after. Nothing extra got added on along the way that wasn't in the original quote. Still feels completely normal two years on.

I'd had a bridge fail on me years ago so I wasn't sure about trying implants again. Dr Patel talked me through why a single implant made more sense this time. The process was calmer than I expected and I don't really think about it now.

What is a single tooth implant?

When you lose a tooth you lose two things: the crown you could see, and the root that anchored it and kept the jawbone alive. An implant is the only replacement that restores both, a titanium post your bone naturally fuses to over 8–12 weeks, finished with a custom crown so precisely shade-matched that most people can't pick it out.

Unlike a bridge (which grinds down the two healthy teeth beside the gap) or a partial denture (which clips on and lets the bone shrink), an implant stands on its own foundation. Your other teeth stay untouched, and you brush and floss it exactly like the tooth it replaced.

Your journey

Single implant treatment, step by step

Two main visits, around 12 weeks, one permanent tooth.

At every stage of life

Single implants for every age

The right approach to one missing tooth changes with age, here's what applies to you.

Under 18

Children & teens

Implants aren't placed while the jaw is still growing. Instead we protect the space with a temporary solution and plan the implant for when growth is complete, so the gap never becomes a bigger problem.

18–39

Young adults

Sports injuries, accidents and failed root canals are the common causes here. Acting early means your bone is at its best, and a front-tooth implant can often carry a temporary crown from day one.

40–64

Adults

Cracked roots, old crowns failing, a tooth finally lost to decades of large fillings. An implant stops the domino effect, preventing neighbouring teeth drifting and the bite collapsing around the gap.

65+

Older adults

There's no upper age limit, bone heals onto titanium at 85 as it does at 45. For many older patients one implant is the difference between eating carefully and eating freely.

Aftercare, risks and your guarantee

Caring for your implant

  • Brush twice daily and floss, exactly like a natural tooth
  • First week: soft foods, no smoking, gentle salt-water rinses
  • Hygienist visits every 6 months keep the gum seal healthy
  • Annual implant check at your routine appointment

What can cause an implant to fail?

  • Untreated gum infection around the implant (peri-implantitis)
  • Heavy smoking during the healing phase
  • Night-time grinding without a protective guard
  • Skipping hygiene visits and check-ups

Failure is rare, around 2%, and every risk above is manageable. We plan for yours specifically.

Your guarantee

  • Implant fixture guaranteed for 10 years
  • Porcelain crown guaranteed for 5 years
  • Free-of-charge review appointments in year one
  • Conditional on attending your scheduled check-ups

Full written guarantee terms are provided with your fixed treatment plan.

Guarantees decoded

  • What's covered: the implant fixture and the crown, split clearly, for example 10 years on the fixture and 5 years on the crown
  • What's excluded: gum disease, grinding without a nightguard, smoking and missed reviews, reasonable when disclosed upfront, not ambushes found later
  • What's required of you: the annual review and good home care, fair conditions that are exactly what makes an implant last
  • Who honours it: get it written into your treatment plan at the quote stage, not left as a spoken promise at consultation
Common questions

Single tooth implant FAQs

Often, yes, it's called immediate placement. If the socket is free of infection and there's enough bone, placing the implant at the time of extraction saves a separate surgery and months of waiting. Your scan and the state of the tooth decide it; we'll tell you at consultation which route applies.

Medical-grade titanium, the same material used in hip and knee replacements for decades. True titanium allergy is extremely rare; for patients who prefer a metal-free option, ceramic (zirconia) implants can be discussed at consultation.

Not if the gap shows. For visible teeth we provide a temporary, a bonded tooth, a small flexible denture, or in suitable cases a temporary crown on the implant itself from day one. Back teeth are usually left to heal quietly under the gum.

No on both counts. Titanium is non-magnetic, it's MRI-safe and far too small to trigger airport scanners. You don't need to declare it or carry any card.

Yes. Grinding (bruxism) puts extra load on any tooth, natural or implant, so we'll usually recommend a custom night guard to protect your investment, and may choose a slightly stronger crown material. It's a planning factor, not a barrier.
